Founder and President of Zimmerman Consulting LLC, November 2006 – Present –Mr. Zimmerman founded Zimmerman Consulting LLC with the intent of providing strategic assistance to individuals, teams, and organizations that will help them become more efficient and effective in performing their mission and achieving their vision. Zimmerman Consulting assists organizations in many areas that include: Leader/Team Development, Strategic Planning, Knowledge Management, Change Implementation, Marketing/Business Development, and Performance Assessments. Chief Executive Officer, Permuta Technologies Inc, October 2005 – October 2006 – Mr. Zimmerman was Responsible for creating an environment that facilitated Permuta to go from a “start-up” to a viable organization positioned for growth. He created a productive environment resulting in over 200% growth. More importantly, his actions provided the foundation for continued future success that increased monthly revenue by 150%. This success was based on creating a strong team atmosphere that encouraged open dialogue for making Permuta better. This atmosphere was essential to establishing a framework for growth that supported a vision which emphasized a unique way of looking at people, processes and technology. This unique approach was the basis for Permuta’s Accelerated Solutions Framework (ASF) and key to consistently ensuring Permuta solutions remained customer focused and results oriented. The concept that made up the ASF approach was recognized for outstanding achievement by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) on 7 April 2006. Chief, Customer Advocacy Division, White House Communications Agency, May 2003 – September 2005 – As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, Mr. Zimmerman served as a senior executive responsible for communicating and implementing strategic telecommunication support to organizations that provide direct support to the President of the United States and the White House Community. He led all White House Communications Agency’s (WHCA) coordination efforts with customer organizations to provide world-class, secure, robust, global communications in support of the President of the United States and his team which included: the White House Military Office (WHMO), White House Staff, National Security Council (NSC), and the United States Secret Service (USSS). He was the principal advisor for all current and future communications requirements related to customer organizations. His office partnered with customers to solve their information requirements in a manner that also helped transform WHCA’s support method into a network-centric approach for providing converged voice, video, and data services world-wide. He facilitated a Knowledge Management effort that re-engineered business processes to change the mind set from “stove-piped” processes into enterprise processes that expanded beyond WHCA and included other organizations based on community of interest (COI) relationships within the entire “White House Community”.
Logistics Automation Officer, United States Pacific Command, June 1999 – June 2002 – As a Major in the Army, Mr. Zimmerman served as the chief advisor to the command for future logistics information systems initiatives. In addition to developing policy and guidance, He provided oversight management for the integration of future logistics information systems for all DoD elements in the Pacific Theater. His responsibilities included providing operational oversight for the beta-test of the Global Combat Support System (GCSS) and fielding of this global logistics capability. He also conceived, developed, and executed a partnered program to integrate international logistics management information systems to allow for different countries to share information within a coalition setting. Coalition Theater Logistics, Advance Concept Technology Demonstration (CTL-ACTD) was the signature logistics automation program in the Pacific and provided enormous operational advances for sharing of information between countries. The $40 million program provided information sharing and collaborative capabilities that strategically changed how information is shared in a coalition environment.
Troop CDR and SPT OPS Officer, 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment, Delta Force, March 1995- June 1998 - As a Major in the Army, Mr. Zimmerman led the planning and coordination efforts to provide logistics support to the operational elements of Delta Force, the Army’s highest priority tactical unit. He instituted information sharing and work processes that allowed operational and support personnel to successfully plan and execute both training and real world operations. In conjunction with his oversight in logistics support, he directed several process improvement initiatives that were recognized for excellence by several higher headquarter inspections for enhancing the support mission.
Quartermaster Corps Systems Manager, US Army Personnel Command, Mar 1993 - Mar 1995 – As an Army Captain, Mr. Zimmerman was responsible for the coordination and management oversight for all force alignment/structure/modernization initiatives for officers, warrant officers, and enlisted authorizations and personnel strength for the US Army.
Logistics Operations Officer, Armed Forces Inaugural Committee (AFIC), Feb 1992 - Mar 1993 – As an Army Captain, Mr. Zimmerman was responsible for coordinating and operational oversight of the transportation, supply, and engineer support requested by the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) and the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC).
Supply and Services Company Commander, 1st Support Battalion, Sinai Egypt, Feb 1991 - Feb 1992 – As an Army Captain, Mr. Zimmerman was responsible for commanding over 50 soldiers with diverse multifunctional logistic backgrounds in providing the daily logistics support to over 1,100 multinational soldiers and sailors that performed peacekeeping operations in the southern sector along the Egyptian/Israeli border.
Logistics Operations Officer, 1st Support Battalion, Sinai Egypt, May 1990 - Feb 1991 – As an Army Captain, Mr. Zimmerman was responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the logistics support provided by a multifunctional logistics battalion supporting an 11 nation multinational force of 3,100 personnel during peacekeeping operations.
Battalion Logistics Officer (S4), 709th Main Support Battalion, May 1988 – July 1989 – As an Army Lieutenant, Mr. Zimmerman was responsible for the internal logistical readiness for a main support battalion comprised of over 800 soldiers within five complex companies that provided supply, transportation, maintenance, and medical support to a an infantry division.
Supply Platoon Leader, 709th Main Support Battalion, Nov 1985 - May 1988 – As an Army Lieutenant, Mr. Zimmerman was responsible for the overall daily operations of a main Class IX, repair parts, warehouse for an infantry division.
